THE RUBY DAHLIA COLLECTION

Ruby Dahlia is a couture design inspired by the sculptural geometry of the Pom Pom Dahlia. Rather than replicating the flower, the design abstracts its layered petal structure into a contemporary evening gown that balances architectural form with feminine elegance. The objective was to create a garment that communicates movement, refinement and individuality while remaining visually cohesive from every angle.

The gown is constructed in ruby-red Duchess satin, selected for its exceptional body, lustre and ability to support sculptural forms. The fabric provides the structural integrity required to maintain the clean architectural silhouette while retaining the fluidity expected of finely made evening wear.

The fitted bodice has been engineered to define the waist and create a balanced transition into a dramatic five-layer skirt. Each layer is formed from individually drafted petal-pocket panels, creating controlled volume, depth and movement. Rather than functioning solely as decoration, these sculptural elements establish the garment’s distinctive identity and reinforce the botanical inspiration through construction.

Each individual petal pocket contains a suspended faceted ruby, carefully positioned to create subtle movement and light reflection as the wearer walks. Flowing black linear detailing across the bodice introduces visual contrast, emphasises the garment’s sculptural lines and creates continuity between the fitted upper section and the layered skirt. A laced back provides adjustability while preserving the refined finish expected of couture construction.

The Ruby Dahlia gown establishes the design language for a coordinated couture collection that includes matching footwear made from satinised leather, millinery and a handbag.
